Both of us, Jess and Kiki, are sophomores at Wayne Valley High School. We want to raise money in order to spread awareness as well as put an end to cancer. We've unanimously decided to focus our fundraising efforts on the mission's pillar of "research" as we believe it's crucial to finding a cure to the disease that has affected so many individuals around the world, either directly or indirectly. Leukemia and Lymphoma specifically have had a major impact on both of our lives through the past few years. Kiki’s mom was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and Renal Carcinoma Kidney Cancer in July of 2016. She went through 10 to 12 rounds of chemotherapy, defeating the Lymphoma, and was announced cancer-free December of 2016 after surgery removing part of her Kidney. Kiki’s friend as well as Jess’s boyfriend, Rocco, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in January of 2022. He immediately went through intense rounds of chemotherapy. Rocco always stayed positive even though battling Leukemia was a very tough battle to be fighting. In May of 2022, Rocco passed away, having left his beautiful impact on his family, friends, and town.  Now, we feel as though it is our turn to give back to this cause, and fight for a cure. ​​​​​​​
